The Sanctuary is the final painting in Emergence. After realization, becoming, metamorphosis, remembering, wisdom, fire, healing, and blooming, the series arrives in a garden filled with peonies, echinacea, berries, butterflies, bees, and other forms of life that aid women in healing.
Unlike the earlier paintings, which often contain the tension of something changing, The Sanctuary feels abundant and open. The transformation is no longer something waiting to happen.
Life is simply being lived.
I think sanctuary is something we spend years imagining we will eventually find somewhere outside ourselves. But perhaps the deepest transformation is discovering that we can create it within.
The Sanctuary closes Emergence not with an ending, but with arrival:
